My Review

This is one of my favourite police procedural series so I was excited to catch up with Hunter again. The series is just going from strength to strength. Val Penny writes a really excellent story with plots and character guaranteed to make me not want to stop reading.

One part of Hunter's Blood I particularly enjoyed was getting to know a bit more about Hunter's family. His mum, dad and Auntie were very welcome additions to the book. Hunter is a brilliant detective and he is unrelenting in his pursuit of truth and justice. He has good relationships with the people he works with.

Jamie and Frankie are back as well. This pair of unfortunate lads in my opinion are just as much of a foundation of this series as Hunter himself is. They bring a special kind of something to the story and I couldn't wait to find out what scrapes they got themself into in Hunter's Blood.

The dialogue is well written, and I often felt that I wanted someone Scottish to read these parts to me so I could get the whole experience. There are a few sub storylines running through the book and I found each one of them interesting. Val Penny is just brilliant and I think the way she lays out the story is a testament to her skill as an author.

Val Penny is such a talented writer and I throughly enjoyed Hunter's Blood. I would highly recommend it, it is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Although if you haven't read the whole series I would highly recommend you do. I am eagerly awaiting the next part in this series as I am sure I will love it.
