Nothing Important Happened Today by Will Carver - Blog Tour Review

Nine people arrive one night on Chelsea Bridge. They've never met. But, at the same time, they leap to their deaths. Each of them received a letter in the post that morning, a pre-written suicide note, and a page containing only four words: Nothing Important Happened Today.

That is how they knew they had been chosen to become a part of The People of Choice: a mysterious suicide cult whose members have no knowledge of one another.

Thirty-two people on a train witness the event. Two of them will be next. By the morning, People of Choice are appearing around the globe. It becomes a movement. A social-media page that has lain dormant for four years suddenly has thousands of followers.

The police are under pressure to find a link between the cult members, to locate a leader who does not seem to exist ...

My Review

If I was asked to describe this book in two words, I would say 'brilliantly unique'. From the very first page I was drew into this shocking, gripping and unique book. Will Carver builds up tension page by page, and I got so invested in the story he has written. I am fascinated by cults etc, and I found this book to be an altogether different story of a cult, if that's what it is?

Will Carver is an excellent story teller, and the way Nothing Important Happened Today is written is superb. Short and emotionally charged chapters told from different perspectives gave this book a special edge.

The story involves group suicides, shocking and occasional frightening descriptions which might not be suitable for some people. I found it gripping because for me it is not so much about the suicide, but the feelings and emotions and the story behind the people who are involved. This is definitely a book that will stay in my mind for a long time. Because these people that Will Carver has created, even though they are just given a number and I don't know there names, they are just normal people with some problems and they don't really seem to know what they have got involved in.

It has been hard to write a review to explain properly why I enjoyed this book so much, so I hope what I have wrote makes sense. If you have read it or do read it I am sure you will see the problem on finding words to explain how it makes you feel. I will just say before I go that Nothing Important Happened Today is a dark, emotional charged and at times shocking read and I loved it!!

  1. Thanks for the blog tour support Emma x

  2. I started reading this last night and have been totally drawn into it. The powerful feeling of something undefinable yet sinister makes it unputdownable.
