Hunter's Force by Val Penny - Blog Tour Review

Hunter by name - Hunter by nature.

Can DI Hunter Wilson keep Edinburgh safe when he is hunted?

Detective Inspector Hunter Wilson is woken in the early hours of the morning by a call from his son. Cameron's flatmate was murdered. Why would anybody want to kill a young woman recently arrived in the city?

Hunter must call in the new Major Incident Team (MIT) to lead the investigation due to the reorganisation of police services. Hunter's ability to be involved, however, is put in severe doubt when someone from his past decides to take revenge on him. He goes missing, and his team have no idea where to look for him. Who would want to stop Hunter in his tracks?

Meanwhile, Hunter's team must work closely with the MIT, with or without him, to solve the murder in this taut crime thriller.

My Review

This is another excellent addition to the Hunter Wilson series. Val Penny has produced a book that was an absolute pleasure to read. I think I enjoyed this one more than the others. Although it is part of a series it can certainly be read as a standalone. I did enjoy catching up with characters from previous books and I love how Hunter's character has changed and progressed, especially the relationships with his team and the special lady in his life (which was something I was hoping to see happen for him!)

The murder is gruesome and it shocks Hunter and his team. He really wants to find the culprit, his efforts are some what thwarted by a kidnapping and a father determined to get justice for his daughter no matter what. The team hit a couple of problems along the way, but they are just as determined as Hunter to get to the truth and get justice for the poor young girl.

Val Penny is an excellent author, who sets scenes so well that I can picture it all in mind. Her characters have depth and I love that she writes about their personal life as well as their professional life, and it is all woven into the story so effortlessly.

This is one of favourite series and Hunter's Force is a must read. It has it all, it is gripping, I couldn't put it down and I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
