Innocent or Guilty by A.M. Taylor - Blog Tour Review

Is the right person behind bars?

One morning ten years ago, the town of Twin Rivers changed forever when the body of Tyler Washington was found in the woods. Son of the mayor, star of the high school basketball team – his death struck right at the heart of this tight-knit community.

For Olivia Hall, Tyler’s death heralded the start of her own personal nightmare – her twin brother, Ethan, was arrested for Tyler’s murder. Ten years later, Ethan is still in jail. Olivia is convinced he is innocent, and now, a true crime podcast has taken up his case.

As the podcast digs deeper, secrets, lies and shocking revelations are all uncovered. For the first time, Olivia dares to hope that Ethan may be set free. But if he didn’t kill Tyler, who did? And how far will they go to keep their secrets safe?

Perfect for fans of podcasts Serial, Happy Face and The Teacher’s Pet, and TV shows Making a Murderer, Staircase and Dirty John

My Review

Innocent or Guilty has a unique premise, based around the investigations of a podcast who are digging into the case of a man in prison for a crime he and his family say he didn't commit.

This was a real page turner of a book, I loved the character of Olivia. She is strong and determined. She wants nothing more than to prove her brother is innocent and have him released from prison. If that means going back to her hometown (where people are open with their dislike for her and her family) then she will do just that.

One part of Innocent or Guilty I particularly enjoyed were the transcripts from the podcast. It was so interesting to read what the podcasts thoughts where on the case, and seeing what people involved said to them 10 years after the crime.

The story goes back and forth between the present and around the time of the crime and Ethan's trial. I thought this was a great way of telling the story. It gave an insight into how Ethan found himself in the situation he has. He was far from a popular boy in high school so people were quick to believe in his guilt.

Innocent or Guilty is a really good book, A.M. Taylor has written a book that had me gripped and wondering if Ethan was guilty or not, and if not him than who? There are many other suspects and motives for people to have hurt Taylor, and I was eager to find out the truth.

About A.M. Taylor

Annie May Taylor lives and writes in London. When not making up stories, she writes copy for a living and can most often be found drinking coffee, watching Netflix, and trying to keep up with a never ending TBR pile. She’s been obsessed with mysteries ever since Nancy Drew first walked into her life and would probably have attempted to become a private detective at some point, if only it didn’t involve actually having to talk to people. She has a cat called Domino, ambitions of owning a dog one day, and is as obsessed with My Favorite Murder as you probably are. Writing as A.M. Taylor, her debut psychological thriller Forget Me Not was released by Killer Reads/Harper Collins in October 2018, and her follow up, Innocent or Guilty? will be published September 28th, 2019.
