Too Close by Natalie Daniels - Blog Tour

How close is too close?

Connie and Ness met in the park while their children played. As they talked, they realised they were neighbours. Perhaps it was only natural that they and their families would become entirely inseparable.

But when Ness’s marriage ends in a bitter divorce, she is suddenly at Connie’s house all the time. Connie doesn’t have a moment to herself, no time alone with her husband, not a second to chat to her kids.

It’s all too much. Something has to give.

Connie has woken up in a psychiatric hospital. They say she committed a terrible crime but she says she can’t remember a thing.

My Review

I absolutely loved this book from the very first page!

The story revolves around Connie  talking to a therapist, re - telling her story. The history is given through her memories. She explains her relationship with Ness. I was eagerly waiting to find out  what led this married mother to be sitting in a psychiatric unit telling her life story to a therapist.
I enjoyed reading about what was going on in her psychicarist, Emma's, life and what she thought of Connie when she wasn't with her. She is desperate to get Connie to talk about what has happened.
Connie has gone from a normal housewife to the other end of the spectrum now being called a monster and I really enjoyed reading her thoughts and explanations.

How did Connie go from the yummy mummy to the yummy monster?

Too Close was a disturbing read in parts but I really enjoyed reading this story. Although for me it was more a story of a woman's descent into mental illness and how that affected her life and choices, rather than a thriller. I throughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from Natalie Daniels.
