The Perfect Family by Shalini Boland - Blog Tour

‘Mummy, she’s gone…’

Gemma Ballantine is getting ready for work one morning when her eldest child comes running down the stairs, saying the words every mother dreads.

The front door is open. And her six-year-old daughter has disappeared. Frantic with fear, Gemma starts a nail-biting search for her little girl.

After what feels like forever, her mother-in-law Diane finds Katie wandering lost a few streets away. Relieved to have her youngest child back in her arms, breathing in the sweet scent of her hair, Gemma thinks the nightmare is over.

But then her perfect family starts to fall apart.

And she realises it’s only just beginning…

From the top ten bestselling author of The Secret Mother and The Child Next Door, this completely addictive psychological thriller of secrets, lies and betrayal will make you gasp out loud at the heart-stopping final twist. If you loved Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and The Sister this book is for you.

My Review

I don't even know where to start with this review, it gripped me from the start. Having read and reviewed another of Shalini's book's The Silent Sister I was looking forward to this one. I was not disappointed!

This was an absolutely brilliant read, Shalini Boland has delivered another truly magnificent story. I read it in a few hours because I just had to know what was happening. Shalini Boland is fast becoming one of my favourite authors and I can't wait to read more of her work. The Perfect Family is definitely being added to my top ten reads of 2018! I can't write too much without giving spoilers, there were so many twists.

Gemma is trying to balance work and family life, and when it all seems to be getting too much her and her husband hire a nanny. Gemma has misgivings, but everything does seem better with a little extra help. But then everything starts falling apart again.

The pace of this book was absolutely brilliant, slow paced when needed and picking up speed at the crucial moments. If you like thrillers I would certainly recommend The Perfect Family. I am looking forward to reading Shalini Boland's next book.
