Book Review - The Chosen Ones/Howard Linskey

Eva Dunbar wakes in a large metal box. She has no idea who has taken her. She has no way out . . .

Eva isn't the first young woman to disappear. Detective Ian Bradshaw, leading the search, has no leads - and precious little time.

When at last a body is found, the police hope the tragic discovery might at least provide a clue that will help them finally find the kidnapper.

But then they identify the body - and realise the case is more twisted than they ever imagined . . .

I love a good crime thriller and this is certainly a really good one. It is part of a series and I haven't read previous parts, however this didn't seem to matter. I will be adding the other parts to my TBR list to find out more of the back story. I haven't read any of Howard Linskey's work before but I will in future, he writes in such a way to draw you in.

This novel has a couple of other cases which run alongside the main plot that give extra depth to the story, and the characters are really well written and each bring something to the story.

The relationship between Helen and Tom was a part I found interesting to read about, and I would like to see where this goes. I also really enjoyed the character of Eva, despite the situation she has found herself in she isn't giving up without a fight!

Bradshaw enlists the help of journalists Tom and Helen. Tom at the same time as helping Bradshaw, is also helping his ex girlfriend Jenna with a stalker she has.

Although the story goes back and forth to different times, and is told from different perspectives, I found it didn't get confusing and was easy to keep track of what was going on.

An edge of the seat read that I couldn't put down until I found out what happened! I would recommend for fans of thriller and crime novels.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin UK - Michael Joseph for a digital ARC.
