Blog Tour - No Reception/Maisie Porter

For hyper-sensitive wedding photographer and blogger, Zody Lee Swabler, anonymous death threats come with the territory. When warned by email not to continue booking jobs, she responds by accepting the next request that comes in.
When a strangely eager woman approaches her about the emails, she accepts the woman's invitation to visit her home. So begins Helena Hoath's elaborate plan to take over the life and profession of the photographer she wishes she could be.

And when Zody unleashes her own revenge scheme, she discovers that the unhinged woman may still have the wit to turn a successful photographer's own talents against her.

Zody and Helena's lives begin to intertwine in ways that neither could have foreseen . . .

My Review

Well this novel has certainly got a "Single White Female" feel to it! Helena isn't happy with her own life and thinks she would be much happier with Zody's life. I don't want to give any spoilers, but Helena gets her wires crossed about something concerning Zody, and she becomes obsessed with Zody and her work.

I liked the character of Zody even though she was quite an anxious person, she isn't going to just sit back and let anyone threaten to take her career from her. I wasn't so keen on Helena! Sometimes I have some sympathy for 'the baddie', depending on the back story, but this was not the case with Helena. She just came across as a very jealous person who wanted things to be handed to her.

I enjoyed Maisie Porter's debut novel and would be interested to read more of her work in the future. If you like a thriller I would say give this a read. Big thank you to Rachel for letting me take part in the blog tour for this novel.
